*we are redefining what it means to be an owner of art and making artist owners

Innovating towards the future where artists are owners.

Lobus understands artists are owners. We started Lobus with three guiding principles — empowering the artist, creating a transparent ecosystem for all owners* and building an environment around art that was wider and more inclusive.

We believe none of this would exist without the artist and we prioritize daily how to put the artist in control of their body of work. Art has been around in time immemorial and for way too long, the creators have been sidelined and massive issues have arisen from inequity to fraud and mistrust. We learned this first hand at Christie’s, where both our co-founders spent over a decade in combined experience prior to founding Lobus. At Lobus, we believe that the future deserves a better model of ownership, one centered around making artists owners and with that the ecosystem will thrive. Innovating towards this future is our top priority.

Lobus is where empowered ownership* happens

We are all stakeholders in art and culture. Whether our job is coding the most collaborative platform that puts all owners of art in control or designing a new ownership structure in partnership with artists, we’re united by the same mission: to empower the owners of art. That means the artist and that means you.

We are the leading asset management platform for art, entrusted by owners of art and their advisors to manage over $5B in assets collaboratively, unify their systems, and connect to essential financial solutions. Only Lobus offers a secure, enterprise-grade environment that can put art on par with other financial assets. The last 30 years have been characterized by a demand for information, and now that access is fluid across the web, we feel it’s time to synthesize that data into key insights to help the art ecosystem, a $2.4T asset class, manage these assets with ease, transparency and optionality. Lobus is a pioneering layer of the business technology stack where people can work together more effectively, connect all their other software tools and services, and find the information they need to do their best work. We are innovating new structures — like the artist’s cap table — and we are designing a world in which owners, at all levels, are in control of their information.

Transparency allows for generational change to take place

This extends to the way we value putting everyone in control of their information to the way in which we think about our company. Transparency is an essential prerequisite for trust, which is an imperative component to facilitating transactions where both parties feel empowered. As we anticipate the needs of a new generation of collectors raised on ubiquitous access to information, we realize how important transparency and access is to making those collectors feel engaged with the market. Transparency not only breeds an internal environment where innovation and collaboration can thrive, but it’s also key to creating an equitable financial ecosystem where all participants understand their value.

An inclusive ecosystem of owners

Art should be something that everyone engages with, yet it remains largely inaccessible. Our team carries a passion for culture that informs our drive to make arts engagement inclusive and a part of daily life. At Lobus, we provide our users with the tools and the information they need to participate in art with confidence. In the last 20 years, broadening participation across continents has only strengthened the global art market, which is why we believe widened participation on the individual level is critical to fostering an empowered creative economy that puts the artist in control and creates an inclusive environment for all.

Building the future for the next 30,000 years — with excellence

Our team is comprised of builders and makers, constantly on the forefront of technology and art. Our foundations were started at companies like Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Lazard, Google, Blend and Carta and we are coming together to create the new future for the art world. Our investors have helped build some of the best companies in the world including Uber, Spotify, Palantir, Coinbase, Oscar and Digit.

We believe in the conditions in which great art is made. While we move quickly, we understand quality and what endures and stands the test of time. Our team, our users and the way in which we innovate and think through solutions align with our goal of upholding a standard of excellence and constantly re-envisioning what that means. In every area, Lobus seeks a diverse universe of cultures and skills that are rooted in curiosity and an interest in the evolution of contemporary society. Our team believes in a sophisticated work ethic that blends a respect for the past with a forward-looking perspective in tune with the evolving praxis of the future. A diverse and inclusive workplace where we learn from each other is core to Lobus’ values. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and a pleasant and supportive place to work.

We are building the future of art with us and reimagining the future of ownership. That starts with our team. Come join the future!
