VATICAN CITY — Lobus was thrilled to participate 14th Deloitte Art & Finance Conference in Vatican City.

The day opened with keynote addresses from Deloitte’s Adriano Picinati di Torcello, who oversees Deloitte’s Global Art & Finance efforts and Msgr Lucio Adrián Ruiz, Secretary of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See gave the Keynote Opening Speech “Synod and Digital Missionaries. The Catholic Church and Art in the Digital Age.”

Lobus Co-Founder and Co-CEO Lori Hotz joined fellow panelists on “The cultural sector’s new technologies and financing mechanisms: NFTs, Crypto-backed Assets, Security Tokens, Fractional Ownership, Digital Assets.”

Lori was joined by Masha Faurschou, Co-Founder, Artrium; Simon Oldfield, Founder & President, Simon Oldfield Advisory, Art | Law | Tech; Valentina Favero, Lawyer, Deloitte Legal Italy and Yassir Benjelloun-Touimi, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, ARTEX

Oliver Berger, Co-Founder & Co-Chief Executive Officer of Wondeur delivered a keynote address on “The Role of Cities in the Art Ecosystem” giving an overview of key analyses data on the quantity and content of the exhibition programs of art institutions across the US, including commercial galleries and museums, revealing insights on their risk preferences for new emerging artists and the impact they can have on their subsequent careers, among other insights. Beyond philanthropy: new approaches for private & corporate art patrons where Monica Heslington, Vice President — Head of Goldman Sachs Family Office Art & Collectibles Advisory at Goldman Sachs, together with fellow panelists spoke of a trend in philanthropy towards selling art collections with proceeds going to charitable organizations versus the art itself, citing Rockefeller, Getty and the upcoming Paul Allen collection this November.

The day concluded with Thomas Krens, Director Emeritus, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation New York and Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Global Cultural Asset Management delivering a talk “Art, Humanity, and Technology: new trends in financing cultural development.”
